Clump forming perennial with rosettes of semi-erect, linear or lance shaped, fleshy, hairless leaves, dark green above and deep purple beneath. Small, white flowers are produced paired in pairs, axillary cymes, which are surrounded by prominent, long lasting purple bracts throughout the year.
