Description:

Medium-sized palm with a stout, columnar trunk marked with oblong leaf scars wider than they are long. Spreading to broadly arching leaves, 4-6m (12-20ft) long, consist of many linear, bright mid- to deep green leaflets, set in a single plane. Bowl-shaped, cream to yellow flowers are borne in pendent panicles, 1-1.2m long, in summer. Fruit are cylindrical to ellipsoid, and yellow flushed red, 2cm long, with edible, sweet but almost dry flesh. |
